This is definitely not my first Rock Trip. In fact I’ve been turning up at these events since my first year climbing. It was a complete newbie when my rock climbing mentor demanded we attend a Petzl Rock Trip happening at our “local” climbing spot, The Gunks.

I had no idea was the Petzl Rock Trip was, who was supposed to be there, or what went on. But all I really needed to know was there was a mega after party after all the climbing hoorah. Since then I’ve soireed at a number of Rock Trips from the The Red River Gorge in KY to Millau. These events are always full on with incredible climbing, social smorgasbords, new friends, familiar faces and a unique adventure at each new area. This trip to China by far takes the cake.

As of now we’re in the very first step of the journey, that will take over 20 hours of travel to get there. But we’re with a great crew, and are beyond excited to reach the other side of the world and see what awaits…
